puff and bang I put a firefly in a jar
2018
acrylic gouache, ink and watercolor on hand molded flax paper
22"x30"

To her feet came the damp earth as she padded through the rose garden of her tiny house. Stopping in the heady smell of the roses lining the fence she held her jar up and puff and bang the fireflies went. And now, intently listening, she could faintly hear her neighbors whispering to her in the town's dead language to walk this way, walk this way.
