Painting is a process of imaginative play that transports me into a richly imaginative poetic space in which I become entirely present in the moment. What excites me as an artist is the possibility that viewing art can be a form of play and spark a kind of present-moment wonder and playfulness. I’ve developed a visual vocabulary that I employ within an abstract context as a way of working through my artistic ideas and arriving at an understanding of how to create my worlds, this process serves my overall evolving artistic vision through rigorous practice and application, which, as is apparent in my work, evokes a sense of play.
